COMMUNITY MEALS
The Vermont Everyone Eats program, the federally-funded, short term pandemic recovery initiative, distributed approximately 3.5 million meals from August 2020 through March 31, 2023, when it concluded. While helping restaurants, farmers, and eaters through the acute economic challenges of the COVID pandemic, it also raised awareness of gaps in existing systems addressing food insecurity in the state. In anticipation of the program's end, Neighborhood Connections and other community partners have joined forces to fill the void.
All are invited to share a noon meal on TUESDAY, JUNE 13th at Neighborhood Connections! The Friends of Neighborhood Connections will prepare and serve meat loaf and vegetables.
When folks gather around a table, it builds community. We invite you to be a part of your community.
If you need a ride to attend, give us a call and we will pick you up and take you home!

Farm Fresh Food for Seniors

Connecting seniors to local farm products is the impetus behind Senior Solutions' Eat Your Veggies program - of which Neighborhood Connections is a vital hub. There are four individual programs under the campaign's umbrella. Of these, Neighborhood Connections will participate in Locally Yours as well as Farm-to-Family Coupons.
Locally Yours: As one of nine regional sites, we will receive five CSA share boxes of fresh produce a week - for 16 weeks, beginning July 6th. The produce arrives after 3:30pm on Thursdays, and folks will be able to choose their produce that afternoon or Friday. We invite you to sign up by calling 802.824.4343. |
Farm-to-Family Coupons: This program provides coupon books worth $48 in $6 increments for use at regional Farmer's Markets and roadside farm stands. Participants must apply and meet income guidelines. Need help filling out the application? Call 802.824.4343 to arrange an appointment with one of our social workers. In addition, the agency is one of three projects statewide to receive additional coupon books for senior fields trips to Farmer's Markets and roadside produce stands - using the Mountain Town Connector as transportation. There are no income requirements to participate. |
